4C and Exel launch Integrated Sourcing & Supply Chain Solution
August 2005
We have created a partnership with Exel, the world leader in supply chain management, that brings together our leading edge sourcing capabilities with Exel's global logistic capabilities. The partnership will trade as 4CX and is already managing a spend of over £60m.
4CX will focus on providing end-to-end purchasing and supply chain solutions for non-core spend areas such as promotional materials, consumables and spare parts. We will enable customers to reduce the costs and risks of sourcing indirect goods, particularly from emerging markets.
Customers will also benefit from our aggregated buying power and Exel's ability to provide optimised international freight management and shared-user warehousing. This will enable 4CX to drive costs significantly below the levels customers can achieve individually.
Alongside 4CX, 4C continues to go from strength to strength. Our consultancy, technology and outsourced purchasing services are experiencing rapid growth, resulting in the opening of a number of new 4C offices in the UK and across Europe.
Jon Bumstead, Group Strategy Director, Exel commented: "Our clients are continually looking to us to provide innovative solutions that provide much more than a conventional logistics solution. 4C has demonstrated their expertise in procurement through sustained and rapid growth over the last five years and by developing a strong reputation among major organisations. They are an ideal partner to work with in strengthening our core service offerings, add real value to our customers and helping us drive our organic growth plans."
"Over the last year the demand from organisations for our support in global sourcing has expanded dramatically. Formalising our partnership with Exel means that we can deliver savings throughout the supply chain in categories that our clients were unable to address effectively." observed Peter Marson, Chief Executive of 4C.
