Category Manager: FM - West London

Requirement

Due to a significant growth in demand for our expertise, 4C is looking to recruit an experienced Category Manager in Facility Management with leadership capabilities to complement an existing outsource team based in West London. The individual must demonstrate a depth and breadth of FM, particularly in soft services and a practical knowledge of other direct categories. The individual must also demonstrate a successful track record in managing stakeholders.

The Role

The Category Manager plays a central role in the team, delivering key procurement projects. The individual is responsible for all aspects of the sourcing strategy and procurement process. This strategic role is a mixture of consultancy and hands on procurement. The Category Managers provide the primary interface for internal stakeholders who are predominantly senior managers and executives on a global basis.

The role will be primarily based in West London with some UK and limited Northern European travel required.

We are specifically looking for experience in Facilities Management

Reporting

The role will report to the 4C Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility will include taking on both project and non-project related tasks such as:

  • Managing / coordinating delivery of multiple medium or large project teams to deliver sourcing projects within a client / category area
  • Identification, development, delivery, justification and reporting of savings/benefits (including value add)
  • Structuring and presenting strategy workshops, client reports and relevant project documentation
  • Responsible for delivering savings targets and other project / category targets (depending on engagement), in some cases including developing or improving processes
  • Meeting with clients and stakeholders to build project requirements, in some cases leading to identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing clients
  • Strategic development and ownership of category plans and implementation of the category sourcing strategy
  • Interpreting results and formulating strategies based on modelling and analysis
  • Managing key supplier relationships to ensure optimum performance, including leading negotiations
  • Building strong and credible senior client relationships; advising and recommending on policy and sourcing solutions
  • Supporting other 4C teams in sharing best practise and technical / market know-how

They will have the capacity to deliver outstanding consulting work to tight deadlines while being focused on more than one project at a time.

  • Ability to understand, negotiate, and implement client sourcing / procurement policies and procedures, and has experience managing dispute resolution
  • Motivates self and others in collaborative approach
  • Understands own limits and willing to work with others to learn and develop
  • Understands level responsibilities and implications of decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications and presentation (both written and oral) skills with the ability to demonstrate significant maturity and professionalism
  • Understands and applies Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concept in constructing simple tenders and evaluation criteria

Ideal candidates would have experience in one of the following areas:

  • 5+ years experience of either working in or with, large corporate procurement departments on Indirects purchasing and with experience in cost savings projects
  • Experience of developing category sourcing strategies and be able to efficiently deal with all aspects of tendering processes
We require a degree from a top UK or international University. Desirable candidates may hold a CIPS qualification (or individual is working towards CIPS qualification), and demonstrate category expertise in the following categories, in addition to a broad experience working across multiple category sourcing projects:
  • FM Services

The ability to demonstrate deep category expertise in FM, TFM and Contract Management are key. Generalists with limited experience within these categories are not sought after for this role.
