Consultants: Generalists and Specialists - London

Requirement

The candidate should demonstrate an excellence in solving complex analytical problems, and an ability to articulate results in a concise manner.

The Role

The role will be primarily based in 4C's Headquarters in Hammersmith, and will be working within the larger Outsourced Procurement Services and Consultancy team resource pool responsible for supporting the procurement projects we manage on behalf of our various clients. The job may require travel.

The Consultant plays a central role in the team, delivering significant portions of key procurement projects. The role may involve the proactive identification of opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement across projects. These may be in terms of direct or indirect cost savings, through improved supplier service delivery, to developing and implementing improved processes and approaches as part of new best-practice procurement solutions.

Consultants are sometimes required to manage small teams of client and / or consulting staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing / coordinating delivery of multiple small or medium concurrent project teams to deliver sourcing projects within a client / category area
  • Structuring and presenting strategy workshops, client reports and relevant project documentation
  • Responsible for delivering savings targets and other project / category targets (depending on engagement), in some cases including developing or improving processes
  • Meeting with clients and stakeholders to build project requirements, in some cases leading to identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing clients
  • Interpreting results and formulating strategies based on modelling and analysis
  • Managing key supplier relationships to ensure optimum performance, including leading negotiations
  • Supporting other 4C teams in sharing best practise and technical / market know-how

Successful candidates will have consistently demonstrated excellence in their careers to date. They will possess outstanding team-working ability and excellent analytical skills with the ability to assimilate large amounts of data. They will be able to articulate results and ideas in a concise manner to both internal colleagues and external clients. They will have the capacity to deliver outstanding consulting work to tight deadlines while being focused on more than one project at a time in addition to
  • Leading by example and taking ownership for projects
  • Ability to focus on results and get things done
  • Understanding and applying a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concept in constructing simple tenders and evaluation criteria
Ideal candidates would have experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • 3+ years experience in a top-tier consulting firm or
  • 3+ years in a leading blue chip firm
  • Significant strategic sourcing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically
We require a good degree from a top UK or international University. Desirable candidates may hold a CIPS qualification (or individual is working towards CIPS qualification).

In addition to generalists, we are also searching for individuals who demonstrate deep category expertise in the following areas:
  • Marketing
  • Logistics
  • Facilities Management
The job may require a certain amount of travel.
