BACKGROUND
A UK food producer enlisted 4C to review its procurement function and operating model.
The brief was to assess current capability, uncover improvement opportunities, and set a procurement vision that aligned with leadership expectations.
the challenge
The organisation needed to assess its procurement maturity, identify gaps in performance across commercial and operational areas, and ensure alignment with the C-suite on the future procurement operating model.
SOLUTION
4C delivered a comprehensive diagnostic and worked with leadership to define vision, strategy, and structure improvements.
- Conducted a diagnostic maturity assessment across procurement, policies, and processes to benchmark current performance and identify capability gaps
- Developed targeted development plans for both individuals and the function to build skills and maturity over time
- Defined a new procurement vision and strategy, co-created with senior leadership to ensure alignment with corporate objectives
- Redesigned the operating model, including structure, roles, responsibilities, and skills matrices to right-size the team and improve accountability
- Refreshed policies and procedures, ensuring procurement activity was compliant, efficient, and aligned with best practices
- Augmented the team with specialist support during transition to maintain delivery while embedding new structures and processes
