BACKGROUND

This leading UK nuclear organisation operates one of Europe’s most complex and diverse industrial sites, encompassing reprocessing, decommissioning, and waste management operations.

With over £2 billion of annual spend and multiple directorates involved in procurement and supply chain management, the business sought to deliver a step-change in its technical, behavioural, and operational capability.

the challenge

The organisation required a full review and transformation of its Supply Chain and Procurement Directorate to address inconsistent capability, fragmented category management processes, and siloed behaviours. There was also a need to design and embed a best-in-class category management framework, enhance the operating model, and develop a sustainable culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

SOLUTION

4C led a comprehensive three-year change and capability development programme focused on transforming the organisation’s commercial and supply chain capability.

  • Reviewed and redesigned the capability framework and operating model, creating clear role profiles and a skills matrix for over 350 individuals
  • Designed and implemented an enterprise-wide category and supplier management framework covering all major spend categories
  • Developed and embedded new process flows, tools and templates aligned with public sector procurement best practice
  • Created and implemented a continuous improvement programme supported by blended 70/20/10 learning pathways
  • Delivered ongoing coaching and mentoring to reinforce behavioural change and leadership capability
